WHO'S IN FIRST? The battle for the top spot is fast and furious in the SLPL and the 2002 season is shaping up to be the most exciting of the year. As of today, a single point separates Stampeding Bovines from Chorizo Guerreros. At one point last week, only four points separated the leader from the guy in fourth place . . . Rube can't let this edition of SLPL Newsletter pass without issuing formal congratulations to last year's SLPL winner, Scott Brown. The championship game against Pacific Grove this season was all the sweeter for Scott because it was played Santa Clara University, where Scott himself played college ball . . . The scandal out of Leon, Mexico, is that Lucy Juarez's Pancho's Sandalia's have been juiced up on steroids all season . . . To all SLPL owners who have Shawn Green on their team: It was fun while it lasted.
