IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL OWNERS: The SLPL braintrust screwed up royally by assuming there was such a thing as a 30-day disabled list in Major League Baseball. This came to our attention after we had disallowed several requests by team owners to get rid of Ken Griffey due to his blown-out kneecap. Since discovering our error, we have placed the trades requested by owners retroactive to the day after the requests were made. If any of you who originally asked for the trade have decided you want to keep Griffey on the roster after all, please let Tony "Pedregoso" Livernois know. We apologize for the confusion, but Rube would personally like to publicly blame Pedregoso for coming up with the idea of DL trades in the first place. Please check the SLPL website for an explanation of the screwup and for our updated rules on DL trades . . . With all the Browns in SLPL this year, you'd think one of them would have selected Kevin Brown. However, only the savvy Scott Allen of ScootBigs picked him up. Scott picked up 20 bonus points the other day when Kevin Brown went long, propelling ScootBigs to the top of La Division Azul . . . You go, girls! Four of the top five teams in SLPL as of today are owned by women and thank God none of them are Marge Schott! Congratulations to Mirna Adriano, Lucy Juarez, Lisa Brown and Kathy Livernois for their fabulous start . . . In a shocking development, Suzie Livernois is NOT in last place. At least, not yet . . . Speaking of tough, Sue Kaschalk of the Cardwheels is languishing in 34th place, overall, but she's talking trash on the website forum. She's an English teacher and softball coach from Marshall, Mich., if anyone is looking for good fodder for a forum response . . . P-Town Playaz' Jeren Livernois went 5-for-5 with two homers and 5 RBI for the Monterey Peninsula College Lobos in a game this week . . . Over in Carmel, high school pitching coach Scott Brown of White Man's Overbite is boasting that one of his pitchers this week tossed a complete game 3-0 shutout after throwing a total of only 53 pitches . . . And what were these guys thinking? The following team owners did not select Barry Bonds: Barbara and Whimp, George Dunne, Jim Hicks' Fat Bastards, Marc Carig and the aforementioned Suzie Livernois.
