THE PHENOMENA FROM SONOMENA: From the shoe factories of Leon, Mexico, to the SLPL commissioner's office in Santa Lechuga, team ownership groups are asking the same thing: "Who are those Dudes, anyway?" James Gallagher's The Dudes have been hanging on to the top spot for most the early going this season. All of us experienced baseball geeks will not be thrilled to learn we're getting our hats handed to us by a 10-year-old, 120-pound lefty who goes by the nickname "Boomer." James is from the Brown clan, and cousin Scott Brown actually fronted James his allowance so he could buy an SLPL team. James is a quarterback for his Pop Warner team in Sonoma and plays center for his Little League team . . . But it's a long season: As of yesterday, only 100 points separate James from Kathy Livernois, who is in 25th place overall. We've seen lots of movement -- up and down -- from most ownership groups so far this season. It's still anybody's ballgame and it ain't over until Roseanne Barr sings . . . The following have paid their SLPL entry fees: Mirna Adriano, Kathy Livernois, Lisa Gallagher, Dave Jannusch, Chip Brown, Sue Kaschalk, Lon Gallagher, Josh Walker, Marcus Rochellle, James Gallagher, Sue Klinkhamer, George Dunne, Brian Styers, Wayne Giesen, Dan Klinkhamer, James Woo, Marc Carig, Javier Adriano, Jeff Brown, B&W Inc., Lisa Brown, Skeeta Playa, Lucy Juarez, Bill Brown, Pedregoso, Karina Granados, Rube, Susie Rochellle, Jim Klinkhamer, Kevin Klinkhamer, Jim Cummings, Duff and Mick Gallagher, Scott Brown and Richard Livernois. If your name is not on the list, please get your 25 clams to us soon so we may wire the money to our connection in the Cayman Islands.
