Because he makes us laugh out loud, those big, guffawing, bring-on-the hiccups sort of laughs. Because he's the thinking woman's Dan Green. Because his last name's got the word "liver" in it, which must have cost him hours of schoolyard agony. Because we didn't think anyone at the Herald would recognize a keen sense of humor if it bit them on the ass. Because his biting wit and sarcasm make us hot and bothered. Because his mustache is so endearing. Because he's the only reason to read the Herald. Because he courageously denounced thinking outside the box--a paradigm we've been begging someone to shoot down for three years. Because he's the best damn columnist from San Jose to Santa Barbara. Here's to you, Joe Livernois, for everything you do.
